A lot has changed in the last week. Firstly, thank you for all the amazing and kind support for our new club, TRX Wolves AC. You can find us here:  TRX WOLVES AC I think I have already covered the reasons why we set up the new club, so I will not go into that again here. We have applied for, and in some cases already been accepted into, a number of male and female cross-country leagues. We will also be at the relays and competing in lots of open races. Alongside this, we will be hosting a Spring/Summer series of races. So, if you want a fresh start, something exciting, and to be part of a great group of people, come and join us. Membership opens on 1st February: First Claim £40 Second Claim and Social £10 The only real change that may affect some of you is that, to train with TRX Wolves AC: Renegades, you now need to join the club, either as First Claim or Second Claim. The cost of Second Claim and Social membership helps support the club and ensures you are insured, which is...

Week beginning 19th January 2026

Hello everyone, Another fantastic week of running in the bag. With no snow around, it definitely made things more enjoyable. Our marathon runners have been putting in some serious mileage, and we rounded off a strong week on Saturday with a really solid cross-country session at Aldersley. Great effort from everyone – the consistency is showing. This week’s focus This week we are once again focusing on longer aerobic reps to continue building that engine. Tuesday keeps the aerobic work ticking over, and the weekend session introduces controlled tempo running with hills to build strength and efficiency. This is still about laying foundations , not sharpening yet. From late February you will be able to start enjoying some faster, sharper work, so stick with it and trust the process. Tuesday session Warm up and ready to go – 6:50pm, Cranmere Avenue 10 minutes tempo Then 10 × 700m on / 100m float This is a continuous run , meaning you keep moving the whole time. The 700m...

Well, we seem to have got through the worst of the weather without cancelling sessions and even managed to get in an extra good one on Saturday despite the snow. Kudos to all of you. This week we are back at i54, and on Saturday we’ll be at Aldersley Stadium for some hilly reps. Keep the focus and the faith, it’s challenging out there. If you can’t get out, consider cross training. Jump on a bike, swim, or use the cross trainer. For example, replace a 1-hour run with a 1-hour bike session and aim to match your usual running heart rate. If you can get out, be careful and realistic with what the weather throws at you. January and February are all about building a base, with efforts to support that. Don’t beat yourselves up if you feel sluggish or miss a few runs. Just aim to be as consistent as possible and it will even itself out over time. Tuesday: Warmed up and ready to go, 6.50pm at i54 (JLR, where we did the 400m efforts, see map). 4–6 miles of reps off 75 seconds recovery. The volu...

That’s a wrap for Christmas, and you have all trained and raced well over the festive period. We find ourselves in 2026 with lots of individual targets for the year, and some exciting TRX news on the horizon - more on that in the coming weeks. 2026 will see the same format: Tuesday and Saturday sessions, Thursday easy or tempo, and Sunday meet-ups for a group run. It would be lovely to organise a New Year outing for food, too. A few of us are racing the Staffs Half in March, and many of you are racing the Manchester Marathon. It would be ace to get to these races and either run, or show support for the group. Before it creeps up on you, start thinking about spring or summer now. If you’re a club runner, begin exploring the possibilities of track races. Pester your clubs and team managers for dates and get signed up. I know Greg at W&BAC will be looking for Masters athletes, and Noel will be recruiting runners to represent W&BAC on the track, too. It’s a great way to get so...
