Week beginning 23rd February

  Hello everyone, hope you’re all well. Some great work last week. We’re nearly into spring, the signs are there! We’ll be using the various parks and fields when the nights get lighter. We had a good laugh doing the recce of the Stafford Half Marathon yesterday. Three grumpy old men and Lucy Calrow keeping us in check. I’ve included a write-up of the course below. TRX Wolves AC members, please sign up if you can, it’ll be our first official outing! Huge thank you to all of you that have joined TRX Wolves AC – vests are order and will be with us within 4 weeks. I will keep you updated. Tuesday Warmed up and ready to go at 6.50pm, Cranmere Avenue. 10 minutes tempo, then 10 x 600m with active float recovery. That’s 10 laps of Cranmere. Marathoners head back out afterwards for 5 minutes tempo. Saturday i54, warmed up and ready to go at 9.30am. Hello all, hope you are all doing well. This week we are continuing with some hill efforts on Tuesday to build strength and speed. On Saturday, we have longer efforts that will suit everyone. If you are unsure about the sessions or need any extra support, give me a shout. Tuesday Warmed up and ready to go at 6.50pm Lower Green: Continuing with hills for the next few weeks. Lower Green / Mitre continuous hills – 25 minutes: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/6683119352/ Then  Half marathoners: 1 lap tempo Marathoners: 2 laps tempo https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/6683120438/ Saturday Warmed up and ready to go at 9.30am Sabrina Road: 3 x 10 minutes off 90 seconds 1st 10 minutes – Tempo (Half / Full Marathon pace) 2nd 10 minutes – Threshold (10k pace) 3rd 10 minutes – Tempo (Half / Full Marathon pace) Finish with: 6 x 20 seconds strides off 40 seconds jog Sunday Recce of Stafford half Marathon. meet at Train station Stafford 9.30am

Well done to all of you for getting out and supporting your clubs at the cross countries. I hear the course was like a mud bath! A big well done to Jonny Morris for finishing 3rd overall in the league. That’s a huge achievement. Another standout performance this weekend was James Neilson, who finished 25th in a loaded Home Countries International race. That’s a seriously good result, sir. It’s always fast and furious at that level. . Tuesday Warmed up and ready to go, 6.50pm, Sabrina Road. Half marathoners and marathoners: 16 × 400m with 80–90 secs recovery, then go again. Everyone else: 8–12 × 400m with jog or walk recovery. You’ll do the first few at tempo, then 8 fast, with some tempo reps afterwards. This is for those training specifically for 10k and below. Saturday Warmed up and ready to go, 9.30am. High Meadows for 25 minutes of hills. Marathon and half marathoners will then do 15 minutes of good steady running afterwards. See you there, people.

Week Starting 2nd February [TRX WOLVES AC FIRST OFFICIAL WEEK!]

Hello everyone – new week, new club. TRX Wolves AC is now official. To make sure we are properly insured and operating safely as part of England Athletics, everyone who trains with us needs to be a member of the club. For most people, this will mean joining us as either a Second Claim or Social member, unless you are moving to us from another club as First Claim. If you are staying with your existing club, or simply want to train with us, please join TRX Wolves AC as Second Claim or Social . If possible, it would really help us if you could do this before Tuesday’s session . We won’t be taking payment for a week or so. Second Claim or Social membership costs £10 and runs until 31 March 2027 , so it covers well over a year.
