Well, well, well. What a weekend of running action. Jake Brown set a new club marathon record with a superb 2:33 at the London Marathon, and a PB to go with it. A winter of hard graft paying off in style. It was brilliant to see Jake and Jonny Morris striding it out in the first half, supporting each other all the way. Strong, committed runs too from Jonny Morris, and a great marathon debut from Jon Hart, both putting in solid performances on such a famous course. Ben Broxton delivered a seriously impressive 3:20, showing real strength and consistency. And Sir Alex Blair, the lord and master of this game, soaked up the atmosphere and everything London brings. After a tough season with a niggle, that’s a proper effort. Really well done. It’s been a superb winter of training for our marathoners. They’ve shown that hard work, consistency and, yes, a few extra miles really do pay off. And of course, a bit of luck plays its part too. You can do everything right for this crazy distance and s...

What a weekend of enormous runs from the TRX Wolves members. Fiona Wright ran an incredible off-road marathon, with hills that make your eyes water. Julia Condon took on the Myddle Muddle 10k to raise money for a school. Blimey, raising money and then straight back into school on Monday to teach primary kids – very good work. On to the Manchester Marathon. We’ve had a number of people training for this since December. Those 3 x 2 mile sessions, the hail, rain and wind, finding roads that weren’t covered in snow, endless extra tempos – was it all worth it? Hell yes. The lads did themselves and the club proud. Two debuts and everyone PB’d. We were all following on the tracker with sweaty hands. When the tracker crashes, your heart stops. But honestly, what a run by: Steven Newman – 2:48 Matt Blair – 4:17 Tom Pryor – 3:21 (that’s basically 50 x 800m!) TRX Wolves men’s road captain Alex Kelly – 2:58 To everyone who raced this weekend, well done – we’re so proud of you. Next up is the Londo...

Another incredible weekend of racing for the Wolfpack. Our first ever National Road Relays finals. Amazing to think you lined up against not only the very best in the country, but also alongside the world 1500m champion Jake Wightman. The relays are always a tough gig, but now you’ve run them, you won’t find a harder 5k all season. Every leg was fought for and you did both the club and yourselves proud. Thank you to all friends and family who came down and made it such a great day. The cake game was strong again from Lynsey, although it has to be said we missed Lynette’s contribution! A big thank you to Paul Tabor for getting us there and organising the teams – another smashing job. We will get a branded gazebo sorted. We’re working on bringing in funds through races and kit, so bear with us. In the meantime, a massive thank you to Els’ dad Nick for once again lending us one. For those that don’t already know, the 12-stage relays are always in the spring. In the autumn, we go agai...

Hello everyone, hope you’re all well. So, the taper starts for the Manchester Marathon runners. Keep the faith. You might feel a bit sore or even sluggish now. The cutback can play a few games with your head, but you know the drill. If you start to feel this way, do a short tempo with some strides. There’s nothing more you can add to your fitness at this stage, so ride it out and try to enjoy some time with friends and family. Reintroduce yourselves to them. If you’re racing Manchester, please post your numbers so we can track you. If anyone is driving up on the morning and has space, I’d really appreciate a lift. Happy to contribute to petrol. Go and smash it, lads. It’s the National Road Relays this weekend. I genuinely can’t put into words how proud I am that you got us there on our very first attempt. The squad and reserves have been announced. It’s a fantastic group, and the passion coming from all of you is brilliant. As our captain Alex Kelly said, do the best you can. Try ...
