Week Starting 6th April
Hello everyone, hope you’re all well.
So, the taper starts for the Manchester Marathon runners. Keep the faith. You might feel a bit sore or even sluggish now. The cutback can play a few games with your head, but you know the drill. If you start to feel this way, do a short tempo with some strides. There’s nothing more you can add to your fitness at this stage, so ride it out and try to enjoy some time with friends and family. Reintroduce yourselves to them.
If you’re racing Manchester, please post your numbers so we can track you. If anyone is driving up on the morning and has space, I’d really appreciate a lift. Happy to contribute to petrol.
Go and smash it, lads.
It’s the National Road Relays this weekend. I genuinely can’t put into words how proud I am that you got us there on our very first attempt. The squad and reserves have been announced. It’s a fantastic group, and the passion coming from all of you is brilliant.
As our captain Alex Kelly said, do the best you can. Try to beat your time from the Midlands. That’s it. You’ll be up against the best in the country, the very best, so enjoy the experience.
TRX Wolves going global and racing strong
TRX Wolves is now truly global, with Danni repping the vest in Japan. We expect to see more of this kind of thing over the summer.
Holly is repping the vest in Portugal. 🇵🇹
Ian Mansell represented the club in Spain at parkrun.
And Paul Marson, very sore from helping David Davies move house, still managed to take an age group win at the Peak District Man vs Train. A fantastic run, showing he is coming into some great form.
Marathon runners completed their final long run yesterday, while the rest of the group were back on the track Saturday for another short session of pain.
A big shout out to our Welfare Officer, Fiona Wright, who took a tumble yesterday at the Wrekin. Hope you mend soon.
We’re now moving from winter training into spring and summer. This means slightly less volume on Tuesdays and more track work on Saturdays. It would be great to see as many of you as possible getting involved on the track over the next few months, and entering some open track races as TRX Wolves AC.
We’ve had three new members this week, please welcome to the pack:
Hazel Smallman
David Alldis
Adam Rickhuss (pictured in his new vest)
Proud to have you with us.
You can now buy kit via the website. Scroll down to “Kit” and use the form.
We’re also collecting orders for vests. These require a block order and have around a five week production time, but you can still place your order and we’ll process them once we have enough.
I appreciate that many of you have already messaged on Messenger with what you need, but to help Mark out, please can you enter your orders through the website. Thank you.
If you’re new, or still need to order a vest, please do this via the site as well. There is currently a waiting list, and production will take a few weeks, but once we reach the minimum quantity we can place the order and get things moving.
Second claim members are more than welcome to order vests and kit.
We only make a very small amount on kit, and this goes straight back into the club account to support races and events.
