Week Starting 11th May
Well done for another great week of training in the bag. Two really well turned-out sessions this week. One tough one at the Field of Dreams (FOD). Great to see our friends from Wolverhampton & Bilston, coached by Duncan. And wonderful to see the junior Tavenor lads Eli and Jake running round with the group. They did the whole session with such passion and joy. Then we smashed out some tough track work at Aldersley Stadium again on Saturday, sharing the track with Ross Jones’ WolfPack.
It’s been a solid week for racing too. Ben Foster, Oliver Jones, Ian Mansell and Mark Judge kicked things off midweek with great runs at the DK10K. Tough course with very little let-up. If there had been a team prize, TRX Wolves would have smashed it, once again packing well and dominating in the black vests.
Friday evening saw our Treasurer, Stu Whitehouse, come out of retirement and once again show his class. Stu has put a big block of training in and taken his time coming back from a really horrible foot injury. On Friday he ran a solid 20:33 at the Christleton 5K. We predict a sub-20 soon, Stu.
Then on Sunday, two of our men’s relay team were out in force. Matty Blair ran a fantastic 10K at Shifnal in 51 minutes, another tough undulating course, and it was warm too. Shaun Bennett then ran the Market Drayton 10K in 41 minutes. That hill at mile five is brutal. Well done people, great work. Ian Mansell was back out again too and ran a tidy 36 minutes at the Bromsgrove 10K for third place.
This week we welcome two new members to The Pack: Hannah Corns and Lee Wilkinson. Hannah comes to us from Germany, where she currently resides, giving TRX Wolves an international base. Hannah will represent us as a first claim member when she’s home and pull on the black vest when racing in Germany too. You may all know her dad Jason, a great runner who has represented both Tipton and Wolverhampton & Bilston. Her brother Alex is a great runner too and has his own physio business in Wolves, definitely check him out.
Lee Wilkinson joins us as a social member, although we’ll work on him. He’s a brilliant runner over all distances from 5K upwards but specialises in ultras. He can regularly be found off-road, like the old masters, smashing long runs over ploughed fields. Super cool and a really lovely chap. Welcome to both of you.
