Week Starting 24th
Great week of work, people.
Tuesday’s 1200s on grass will have added to your already strong endurance and complemented the speed work you’ve done recently really well. With the relays coming up, the coaching team and our Road Captain, Alex Kelly, will be exploring the idea of going over to Sutton Park on a Saturday to do a session, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Races
Big well done to Adam Rickhuss, who smashed through the 18-minute barrier for 5k this week at the Fast and Furious Series. Amazing to see his progression and well deserved, as Adam always puts in the work.
Hannah Corns repped the vest internationally this week and was First Lady back at Germany’s Rheinpark parkrun.
John Bateson PB’d at parkrun to bring his time down to a fraction over 18 minutes now.
Tom Pryor repped us on the track at the Rugby Summer Open, winning the 800m.
Old Hill Challenge
The Old Hill Challenge is heating up, with Steve Newman leading the way in a devastating 37 seconds. Who’s going to have a go at that?
Mal Purchase is currently in second place with another quick time of 69 seconds. Cannot see anyone in his age group beating that!
Legendary runner Dave Rowley is also on the leaderboard with a 78-second effort. There are surely no 70-year-olds out there who can catch him. We’re also looking at a possible 73 for Dave that seems not to have registered!

TRX Wedding
Holly and James tied the knot yesterday and made it the first TRX Wolves wedding! NDAs have been signed and no photographs are allowed, sadly!
TRX wishes you both a very happy honeymoon, and when you’re sick of one another you can come to training x
Two ways to help the club
If you have some time on 16th September at 7pm, there are two ways you can help the club:
Sign up and race the Tettenhall 5k: CLICK ME TO ENTER
or
Sign up to help marshal the race: CLICK ME TO VOLUNTEER
Either way, you’ll be supporting the club and helping us make the event a success. Thank you!
This Week’s Training
Tuesday – warmed up and ready to go, 6.50pm, Regis School
Or meet Adam Guy at Regis School at 6.30pm and he’ll run you around kilometres 2–5 of the Tettenhall 5k as your warm-up. We’re using the first kilometre of the course as the effort for the session:
8 x 800m off 90 secs recovery
Reps 1 and 8: tempo
Reps 2–7: threshold
Racing Mid Cheshire 5k on Friday? Come along on Tuesday but just do 3 x 1km at tempo pace and 3 x 1 mins off 1 min. Keep it controlled and make sure you’re fresh and ready to race on Friday.
Saturday – warmed up and ready to go, 9.30am, Aldersley Stadium
4 mins tempo
12–16 x 400m off 75 secs recovery, depending on fitness, training load, etc.
